8:1 우리는 우상들에게 바친 희생제물에 관하여 우리 모두가 지식이 있는 줄로 알고 있습니다. 지식은 교만에 빠지게 하지만, 사랑은 건축합니다.

2 어떤 사람이 자기가 무엇을 안다고 생각한다면, 그는 아직도 마땅히 알아야 할것을 제대로 알고 있는것이 아닙니다.

3 그러나 어떤 사람이 하나님을 사랑한다면, 하나님도 그 사람을 알아주십니다.

교만에 빠지게 하는 외적이고 객관적인 지식은 죽음의 근원인 선과 악의 지식나무에서 온다.

7:39 아내는 남편이 살아있는 동안에는 그에게 매여있으나, 남편이 잠들면 자기가 원하는 사람과 결혼할 자유가 있습니다. 단 주님안에 있는 사람과 해야만 합니다.

40 그러나 내 의견에는 과부로 지내는 것이 더 복된 것입니다. 나는 나에게도 하나님의 영이 있다고 생각합니다.

사도가 말한것은 비록 주님께서 말씀하신 것은 아니었지만 여전히 신약에 있는 신성한 계시의 일부분이 되었다. 사도는 심지어 자기의 의견을 말할때에도 자신에게도 하나님의 영이 있다고 생각했을 정도로 주님과 하나였다.

7:35 내가 이것을 말하는 것은 여러분 자신이 유익을 위한 것인데,  여러분에게 올가미를 놓으려는 것이 아니라, 여러분이 합당하게 행하고 마음에 흐트러짐이 없이 주님을 섬기도록 하려는 것입니다.

36 그러나 어떤 사람이 자기의 처녀 딸에 대한 처사가 합당하지 않다고 생각한다면, 또 혼기도 지나서 결혼시켜야 한다면, 그가 원하는 대로 할수 있습니다. 죄짓는 것이 아니니 그들을 결혼시키십시오.

37 그러나 그가 마음을 굳게 정하고 또 부득이한 일도 없고 자기 뜻대로 할 권한도 있어서, 자기의 처녀 딸을 그대로 두기로 마음에 작정하였다면, 그가 잘하는 것입니다.

38 그러므로 자기 처녀 딸을 결혼시키는 사람도 잘하는 것이지만, 결혼시키지 않는 사람은 더 잘하는 것입니다.

즉 여러분을 덫에 걸리게 하려는 것이 아니라, 여러분이 내말을 순종하도록 강요하려는 것이 아니라,
